Work roll introduction

The main working parts and tools on the rolling mill that cause continuous plastic deformation of metal. The roll is mainly composed of three parts: roll body, roll neck and spindle head. The roll body is the middle part of the roll that actually participates in rolling metal. It has a smooth cylindrical or grooved surface. The roll neck is installed in the bearing, and the rolling force is transmitted to the stand through the bearing block and the pressing device. The spindle head of the transmission end is connected with the gear stand through the connecting shaft, and transmits the rotating torque of the motor to the roller. The rolls can be arranged in the form of two rolls, three rolls, four rolls or multiple rolls in the mill stand.

Design of Roll

The modern cold rolling joint unit has really realized high speed and continuous endless bar rolling. The productivity of roll has increase greatly. The cold rolling products has developed in the direction of high-precision, high-quality and multi-model. The quality of cold rolling working roll shall affect directly the surface quality of plate material, the qualified rate and operating rate of mill. Therefore the quality of clod-rolling working roll is very important.

Main Process flow

Product transfer design → roll billet → smelting (EF+LF or EF) → casing (rolling) electrode → electro slag refining(ESR) → high→temperature diffusion annealing → forging → spheroidizing+diffusion hydrogen annealing → rough processing → Inspection(UT flaw detection) → rough turning UT flaw-detection → quenching and tempering treatment → inspection → semi→finish processing → flaw detection → quenching + tempering on roll neck → inspection → grinding before quenching(UT flaw→detection) → quenching + tempering on roll body → inspection →finish processing→ rough grinding → semi-finish grinding → (extra) finish grinding →inspection (UT flaw-detection) → anti→rusting → packaging delivery → storing → → inspection → → operation and maintenance → exchange in site → improving design.

As shown in flow chart, the roll manufacture has formed a close-ring system from product transfer design, production manufacture, operation an maintenance and improving the design. The quality of roll is continuously improved. We can say that no best and only the better for the quality of roll The main process procedures of production and manufacture for forged-steel working roll include manufacture of steel billet (smelting and forging),rough processing, quenching and tempering, hardening of roll body +refrigeration treatment + low temperature tempering, fine processing.
